Merdeka Run to celebrate National Day

In conjunction with the National Day celebration, the Cheras MCA is organising a Merdeka Run in its constituency on Monday.
“It is our National Day and what better way to celebrate it if not with residents and people in the community,” Cheras MCA secretary Dr Jeffrey Goh said.
The 3.5km run passes through housing areas like Taman Segar, Bukit Segar, Taman Supreme, Taman Cheras, Desa Aman Flat, Desa Aman, Taman Mutiara Timur and Taman Gemilang.
The run is jointly organised with Taman Taynton Residents Association. The first 500 participants to sign up will be given a free T-shirt and a flag.
“It is a healthy activity for residents of all ages to participate in this fun run. They can also cycle, roller-blade or just walk the short route,” Goh said.
He said that 51 residents would also be chosen to carry the National Flag along the route this year, to mark the country’s 51st birthday.
Those interested can call 03-9133 2286 for details. Registration begins at 7am in front of the Cheras MCA office at Jalan Manis 1 in Taman Segar.
A light breakfast would be served before the run, followed by a short warm-up session conducted by Fitness First instructors.

I was totally not prepared and no intention to participated in this race. I could not remember when was my last race. I have lost so much interest in competitive running, instead I spent most of my time on long slow hill run and moderate short run. My timing for 10km race have droped approx. 3-4 minutes from my peak. I was invited to participated because one of my friend's company wanted to show more participants recruited by their company.

With my present form i dared not expected any thing but to have fun and satisfied with a finishing medal. I even told my family the night before to wait for me to come back before 9.00am to bring them out for breakfast. I didn't noticed i was in 10th position at the last 1km and was overtook by a runner from my category. I just let him go easily without any challenged. When i tried to chase him 500 meter before the finishing line, it was already too lated. I finish about 10 meters after him with the timing of approx 46 minutes. I was real shock when i collected my position card from the race officer that my position was 11th. What a ....... to be continued....

Ah Pak San-Bukit Putih, Wangsa Cheras was closed

Bukit Putih, Wangsa Cheras, "Ah Pak San" was closed again by Forestry Department of Selangor since 2nd August 2008 and was still closed as at 10th August 2008. Nevertheless, some trekkers were still managed to enter the hill by other alternative entrances. One of the best alternative entrance is located at the end of Jalan Awana 23, Taman Cheras Awana, which is about 1 km away from Wangsa Cheras. Another alternative entrance is located at the middle of Jalan Saga 28, Taman Saga. This entrance is much further but was near for Ampang folks.
