What a pity to see my timing is only 15 seconds behind the 10th placing runner. I am taking this race easy and only train once, which was on 24th Feb 2009 - Climbed the 18th floor condo by 3 times only. If I could train a little bit more and improve my timing by 30 seconds then my position could be 9th instead of 13th.
Here is the conversation between me and Ong Chin after the race.
Vincent : "Hello Ong Chin, what is my position today?"
Ong Chin : "My position is 5th, I am not very strong in Staircase climb."
Vincent : "Congratulation for winning KL City day run. You are fast."
Ong Chin : "Thank you. I am strong in the middle distance like 10km."
Vincent : "Normally where do you train?"
Ong Chin : "I train around my house?"
Vincent : "How often you train train?"
Ong Chin : "I only train 3 times per week excluding race day."
Vincent : "Are you sure!"
Ong Chin : Yes! Some time only 2 times a week because of work comitmment."
Vincent : "How do you train?"
Ong Chin : "I did tempo run for 12km each time. During the race week, I ran 400m x 8 time with the time of approx.60 seconds each with the rest of 1 minute and 2 minutes rest every 2 times."
Vincent : I am very surprised to know that you can run so fast with only 3 training section per week. "
Ong Chin : "The important thing is consistency. After running for many years, I maintained my fast pace training form and never give out no matter how busy I am. You will reach your peak one day with a few month of serious training."
